SUBANG Jaya-based Anak
Kalumpang FC are looking forward to continuing their winning momentum in their
ongoing campaign at the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) league.
Last Saturday, they
went on a scoring spree and defeated Wira-Ampang Stats FC 5-1 in the Premier
Division Group D at Taman Berjaya, Sungai Chua in Kajang.
It was a morale boost
for Anak Kalumpang under the guidance of Zainul Mashi Mohd Fathil as they ended
their goal drought from the previous four matches.
Wira-Ampang Stats FC
needed only a minute to get into the lead when Anak Kalumpang defender Ugendran
Rongodurai directed a shot into his own net.
Wira-Ampang Stats FC
manager Azizul Hakim said it was going to be a good experience to be making the
debut appearance in the competitive FAS league.
“We fielded the
majority of senior representatives above 30 compared to Anak Kalumpang’s
youthful side comprising the Under-21 youngsters.
“We found it tough to
keep up with their speedy pace. We are satisfied with our performance but it
was not enough for a win over the more deserving Anak Kalumpang.”
Abdul Muhaimin Tuan
Hassan scored the equaliser before K. Yakish Rao got Anak Kalumpang 2-1 ahead
as they went into the half-time interval.
In control: Muhammad Fitri Jamaludin from Anak Kalumpang FC (left) shielding the ball against a player from Wira-Ampang FC. |
After an evenly
matched contest at the start of the second half, Faridz Ismail struck a
clinical grounder from outside the penalty box after he received a pass from
Abdul Muhaimin.
Abdul Muhaimin went on
to slot in a formality kick from the spot after he was brought down in the
penalty box.
And Amirrul Adli M.
Yussli did not allow Wira-Ampang Stats FC’s goalkeeper to react when he
connected a volley to wrap up the 5-1 victory for Anak Kalumpang.
Despite chalking up
the convincing victory, Zainul warned his charges to remain level-headed as there
was still room for improvement.
“We could have applied
more pressure on our opponents in threatening to score more goals. Hopefully,
we will strengthen our team work to produce a more lethal finishing in the
future,” he added.
